UPDATE: The Wales and Africa COVID Adaptation – Large grants round 2020-21 is now closed.
The next round of Wales and Africa small grants funding will be in the Spring of 2021.
The ongoing global effects on the COVID-19 outbreak are being felt differently worldwide. As Wales’ flagship grant programme for the Wales and Africa initiative, the Wales and Africa Grants Scheme has secured additional funding for award in 2020-21. There is £250,000 available to fund registered charities/Charitable Incorporated Organisations with an annual income of £100,000 or over, to work with their African Partners to adopt new ways of working as a partnership in adaptation to the impacts of COVID in the longer term, the grants will also fund the Welsh partner organisation to build the capacity and resilience of their organisation.
This funding is not for ‘business as usual’ projects. This is an additional round of funding for 2020-21. The next round of Wales Africa small grants funding will be in the Spring of 2021.
Grant are available from £75,000 up to £125,000. Applications outside of this range will not be considered by the panel.
There is £250,000 available for this COVID-19 response grant round.
TIMESCALE AND PROCESS FOR AWARDS
Process for awards

|Panel meeting||18 March 2021||Formal approval of those requests which will be funded|
|Applicants informed||25 March 2021||Grant Offer letters sent to successful requests|
Project end dates should be no later than March 31 2022, final project reporting may be submitted after this date.
It must be emphasised that this is a grant funding round in response to a global crisis, requests for funding will need to strongly demonstrate how they will help the partnership adapt to delivering in new ways and build resilience to help ensure activity will continue; the activity must also deliver an element of capacity building for the Welsh organisation. The panel will formally award grants once a week. All panel decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
